Radium Wallet upgrade[edit]

The Radium wallet has been updated to 1.4.0.2, and users are REQUIRED to upgrade. Version 1.4.0.1 and onward contains many code upgrades, some of which require a hard fork to implement. The hard fork will take place on 4/28/2016, when the new code will become active. Wallets that have not upgraded will no longer work correctly after that time. Users who have not upgraded by 4/28/16 risk losing their coins if they continue to use the old wallet after that date.

What is a hard fork?[edit]

A hard fork is a planned network event where all the wallets agree at the same time to start using some new code or new rules. In our case, when the hard fork occurs, all the wallet will agree to use the POS v3 code. Wallets that are not upgraded will no longer function correctly.

Do I really NEED to upgrade?[edit]

Wallet versions that MUST upgrade:

  • 1.3.0.1
  • 1.2.0.1

Wallet versions that MAY upgrade:

  • 1.4.0.0

Which is the correct protocol version?[edit]

Go by the wallet versions. Best bet, upgrade to 1.4.0.2.

How To Upgrade[edit]

Step 1 : Backup your wallet.dat in a safe place.

Step 2: IF you are using 1.3.x.x or 1.2.x.x. then you MUST remove the old blockchian database by removing the 'txleveldb' folder.

Step 3: Start the new wallet.Because we had to remove the old blockchain database, the wallet will need to resync. Once the wallet has finished syncing, the upgrade is complete!

How To Remove Old Blockchain Database[edit]

Windows[edit]

Delete the 'txleveldb' folder from the Radium data folder. If you did not specify a custom data directiry, this folder is located in your %appdata%/Radium directory, in the same place as your wallet.dat.

cd %appdata%/radium

rmdir txleveldb /s /Q

Linux[edit]

Delete the 'txleveldb' folder from the Radium data folder. Linux users should find the 'txleveldb' folder in ~/.Radium, the same place as the wallet.dat

How To Upgrade (Mac)[edit]

Coming soon!

I am getting: EXCEPTION: NStBios_base7failureE type error![edit]

This is because your old blockchain was not removed. One of the upgrades in Radium 1.4.0.2 is a new database structure, that is both faster and more efficient. As a side effect of this change the wallet can not use or read the old blockchain database created by the older wallet. This error occurs when the new wallet tries to read a blockchain database created by the older wallet. It is easily corrected by following the upgrade steps below.

Q: Which operating system should I run Radium on?
A: In general, Radium runs best on Windows. Linux might also work well. On MacOS there are both performance and stability problems, but many find it useful anyway.
The most serious problems on macOS are caused by bad support for OpenGL by the operating system. Work has been started to replace OpenGL with a more modern graphics API.

Q: What are the minimum OS requirements?
A: On Windows, Radium requires Windows 7 or newer. On Linux, Radium requires glibc 2.27 or newer. On Mac, Radium Requires macOS 10.13 or newer.

About the subscription model

Subscribing for a year is exactly the same as buying the program + getting one year of updates. In addition, you will get support, and you will be listened to when suggesting new features. And that's it. Radium does not stop working after your subscription runs out.

  1. You don't need to be connected to the internet to use the program
  2. There is no keyfile, serial number, or anything else that identifies you with the program. Everyone runs the same program.
  3. The program has no copy protection.
  4. You don't need a subscription to use the program. (but please do..)
  5. The subscription model was chosen since it seems like an accurate way for customers to get what they pay for, and an easy way to support the development over time. It was not chosen to trick people into paying more than they othervice would have, so if you forget to unsubscribe before a renewal, just send me an email and I'll refund the money immediately.

Select this option if you don't want to create a Paypal account, or you don't want a subscription.
